تدخل المملكة محطة جديدة في طريقها لاستضافة كأس آسيا 2027 السعودية، مع تبقي 150 يوماً على انطلاق النسخة الـ19 من البطولة القارية، التي تقام للمرة الأولى في المملكة خلال الفترة من 7 يناير إلى 5 فبراير 2027.
وتجمع البطولة 24 منتخباً آسيوياً تتنافس على مدى 30 يوماً في 51 مباراة تستضيفها الرياض وجدة والخُبر، في واحدة من أبرز البطولات الرياضية التي تحتضنها المملكة.
وتتواصل الأعمال التنظيمية والتشغيلية في المدن الثلاث، وتشمل استكمال جاهزية الملاعب والمرافق، وخطط النقل والضيافة والخدمات المقدمة للجماهير، بما يسهم في تقديم تجربة متكاملة للمنتخبات والجماهير القادمة من مختلف أنحاء القارة.
وتحظى النسخة بحضور فني لافت، بمشاركة عدد من أبرز منتخبات القارة، من بينها منتخبات سجلت حضورها في نهائيات كأس العالم 2026، ما يعزز من مستوى المنافسة المنتظرة على اللقب القاري.
وكانت القرعة النهائية للبطولة قد أُقيمت في مايو الماضي بقصر سلوى في حي الطريف التاريخي بالدرعية، وأسفرت عن وقوع المنتخب السعودي في المجموعة الأولى إلى جانب منتخبات الكويت وعُمان وفلسطين، على أن يستهل الأخضر مشواره بمواجهة فلسطين في الرياض، سعياً نحو لقبه الآسيوي الرابع بعد تتويجه بالبطولة أعوام 1984 و1988 و1996.
وانطلقت الأسبوع الماضي في المنطقة الشرقية المرحلة الأولى من المقابلات الشخصية للمتقدمين إلى برنامج متطوعي كأس آسيا 2027 السعودية، بعد أن استقطب البرنامج أكثر من 30 ألف طلب، وتشهد محافظة الخبر إجراء أكثر من 3 آلاف مقابلة، على أن تتواصل المقابلات لاحقاً في الرياض وجدة، ضمن مراحل اختيار وتأهيل المتطوعين للمشاركة في مختلف مسارات العمل بالبطولة.
The Kingdom enters a new phase in its journey to host the AFC Asian Cup 2027, with 150 days remaining until the start of the 19th edition of the continental tournament, which will be held for the first time in the Kingdom from January 7 to February 5, 2027.
The tournament will bring together 24 Asian teams competing over 30 days in 51 matches hosted by Riyadh, Jeddah, and Khobar, in one of the most prominent sporting events the Kingdom will host.
Organizational and operational work continues in the three cities, including the completion of stadiums and facilities readiness, transportation and hospitality plans, and services provided to fans, contributing to delivering a comprehensive experience for the teams and fans coming from various parts of the continent.
This edition boasts a remarkable technical presence, with participation from several of the continent's top teams, including teams that have qualified for the 2026 World Cup, enhancing the level of competition expected for the continental title.
The final draw for the tournament took place last May at the Salwa Palace in the historic Al-Turaif neighborhood of Diriyah, resulting in the Saudi national team being placed in Group A alongside the teams from Kuwait, Oman, and Palestine, with the Green Falcons set to begin their journey against Palestine in Riyadh, aiming for their fourth Asian title after winning the tournament in 1984, 1988, and 1996.
Last week, the first phase of interviews for applicants to the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Saudi Arabia Volunteer Program launched in the Eastern Province, after the program attracted more than 30,000 applications, with over 3,000 interviews being conducted in the city of Khobar, and interviews will continue later in Riyadh and Jeddah, as part of the selection and training phases for volunteers to participate in various work streams for the tournament.
