ذكرت السلطات المحلية بمنطقة فار جنوب فرنسا اليوم، أن حرائق غابات اندلعت بالمنطقة أمس وتتحرك بسرعة، مما تسبب في دمار 2500 هكتار وأجبر 400 شخص على الفرار من منازلهم. وقال المتحدث باسم رجال الإطفاء بالمنطقة وليام فوجل لمحطة إذاعية: «الوضع صعب للغاية، نحو 1100 من رجال الإطفاء ظلوا يعملون طوال الليل». وأضاف: «أن الحرائق لم يتم إخمادها حتى صباح اليوم، لكن الرياح من المتوقع أن تكون أكثر ملاءمة اليوم على الرغم من ارتفاع درجات الحرارة». وأفادت منطقة فار بأن الكهرباء منقطعة عن 2300 أسرة اليوم.

وتتركز معظم عمليات الإجلاء في قرى بونتيف، وكوتينياك، وسيلان-لا-كاسكيد، وكورينس، ومونتفور-سور-أرجان، فيما تواصل فرق الطوارئ جهودها لمنع امتداد النيران إلى مناطق سكنية جديدة. وتأتي هذه الحرائق في وقت تشهد فيه أوروبا موسمًا استثنائيًا من موجات الحر والجفاف، إذ يؤكد علماء المناخ أن ارتفاع درجات الحرارة يزيد من شدة حرائق الغابات واتساع نطاقها.

The local authorities in the Var region of southern France reported today that wildfires broke out in the area yesterday and are spreading rapidly, causing the destruction of 2,500 hectares and forcing 400 people to flee their homes. The spokesperson for the firefighters in the region, William Vogel, told a radio station: “The situation is extremely difficult; about 1,100 firefighters have been working throughout the night.” He added: “The fires have not been extinguished as of this morning, but the winds are expected to be more favorable today despite the rising temperatures.” The Var region reported that electricity is out for 2,300 households today.

Most of the evacuations are concentrated in the villages of Pontevif, Cotignac, Sillans-la-Cascade, Correns, and Montfort-sur-Argens, while emergency teams continue their efforts to prevent the flames from spreading to new residential areas. These fires come at a time when Europe is experiencing an exceptional season of heatwaves and drought, as climate scientists confirm that rising temperatures increase the intensity and spread of wildfires.
