MIDAR for Investment and Urban Development, the master developer of “Mostakbal City” and “MADA”, has obtained LEED certification for its headquarters in “Mostakbal City”. The certification recognizes the company’s commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency, and environmentally responsible practices, in line with the LEED Green Building Rating System, accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). This achievement reflects MIDAR’s continued adoption of the highest international environmental standards across its operations and facilities. It also reinforces the company’s commitment to developing more sustainable urban communities.
The LEED system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is one of the world’s prominent green building rating systems; It evaluates building performance based on criteria that include energy and water consumption efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and sustainable resource management.
The LEED certification awarded to MIDAR’s headquarters highlights the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its operational practices. It also reflects MIDAR’s efforts to enhance the performance of its facilities and manage their operations in line with internationally recognized green building standards.
These efforts support the company’s vision of developing smart, green, and sustainable cities, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030 and its sustainable development objectives and environmental practices.
For his part, Eng. Ayman ElKousey, CEO & Managing Director of MIDAR for Investment and Urban Development, said that MIDAR’s vision of developing integrated and sustainable urban communities is underpinned by a clear commitment to applying sustainability principles. This commitment extends beyond the company’s developments to its own headquarters, making sustainability an integral part of its operations at every stage. This ranges from city and community development to the operation of buildings and facilities.
ElKousey added that obtaining the U.S. Green Building Council’s certification highlights MIDAR’s success in enhancing the operational efficiency of its buildings. He noted that the certification awarded to the company’s headquarters falls under a category dedicated to the operation and management of existing buildings. This confirms that MIDAR’s headquarters now operates within a framework accredited by leading international assessment bodies.
MIDAR’s LEED certification for its administrative headquarters builds on the company’s track record of obtaining international certifications. MIDAR has previously secured ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety Management. This makes it one of the first companies operating in Egypt’s investment and urban development sector to hold all three international certifications.
In addition, WAYZ, a MIDAR subsidiary, obtained ISO 39001 certification for its Road Traffic Safety Management System, becoming the first Egyptian company in the transportation sector to receive this international accreditation. These certifications reflect MIDAR’s leadership in adopting international standards and its commitment to implementing best practices in quality, environmental sustainability, and safety across its operations and subsidiaries.
