على سفح «كامب ديفيد»، وضع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب يده على الزناد مجددًا، بعد أن كشف مسؤولون أمريكيون لصحيفة «وول ستريت جورنال»، فجر اليوم (السبت)، إصداره أوامر للجيش بالاستعداد لشن موجة ضربات جديدة وأشد ضراوة ضد إيران، مرجحين أن تنطلق أولى شراراتها خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع الحالي.
أتت هذه التحركات عقب تصريحات حاسمة أدلى بها ترمب خلال اجتماع حكومي عقد في منتجع «كامب ديفيد»، حيث أعلن صراحة عزمه استئناف حملة الضغط العسكري المكثف لكسر التعنت الإيراني. وقال ترمب بنبرة لا تخلو من التحدي: «سنوجه لهم ضربات قوية للغاية.. سيتصلون في لحظة ما ليقولوا: لم نعد قادرين على تحمل المزيد». ويراهن الرئيس الأمريكي على أن الضغط العسكري المتواصل والمركز سينتهي بتفكيك كبرياء النظام المتشدد وتلاشي قدرته على الصمود.
ورغم موافقة ترمب الرسمية على الخطة العسكرية المعروضة عليه، إلا أن كبار المسؤولين لم يستبعدوا أن يغير رأيه في اللحظات الأخيرة إذا ما ظهرت إشارات دبلوماسية جدية من جانب طهران.
لكن خلف كواليس الغرف المغلقة تبدو الصورة أكثر تعقيداً؛ إذ نقل مقربون عن ترمب وصفه للقيادة الإيرانية بـ«الجنون»، مؤكداً أن اتفاقات السلام المؤقتة كانت «بلا قيمة»، وأنه لم يثق بنجاحها يوماً. وتفجّر غضب ترمب في «كامب ديفيد» حين اتَّهَم الدبلوماسيين الإيرانيين بـ«الافتقار التام للشرف» في مفاوضاتهم، مشدداً على أن القوة الغاشمة هي اللغة الوحيدة الكفيلة بإعادة ترتيب الأوراق.
في المقابل، تسود حالة من الإنهاك والإحباط أروقة الدبلوماسية الإيرانية؛ إذ يرى مسؤولون في طهران أن النيات الأمريكية تفتقر للثقة، وأن التهديد المستمر بالحرب يجهض أي أمل في إحياء مسار السلام. ورغم استمرار طهران في تأكيد سلمية برنامجها النووي ونفيها التام لمساعي امتلاك السلاح الفتاك، تبرز المفارقة في إقرار مسؤولي الإدارة الأمريكية أنفسهم بأن إيران لا تقوم حالياً بتخصيب اليورانيوم، خصوصاً بعد الهجمات التي طالت مرافق التخصيب الثلاثة الرئيسية العام الماضي.
At the foot of "Camp David," U.S. President Donald Trump once again put his hand on the trigger, after American officials revealed to the "Wall Street Journal" early today (Saturday) that he had issued orders for the military to prepare for a new and more intense wave of strikes against Iran, suggesting that the first sparks could ignite over the current weekend.
These moves came following decisive statements made by Trump during a government meeting held at the "Camp David" resort, where he explicitly announced his intention to resume an intensive military pressure campaign to break Iranian stubbornness. Trump stated, with a tone not lacking in challenge: "We will deliver very strong blows to them... They will call at some point to say: We can no longer bear any more." The U.S. president bets that continuous and focused military pressure will ultimately dismantle the pride of the hardline regime and diminish its ability to withstand.
Despite Trump's official approval of the military plan presented to him, senior officials did not rule out that he might change his mind at the last moment if serious diplomatic signals emerged from Tehran.
However, behind the scenes, the picture appears more complicated; close associates of Trump reported that he described the Iranian leadership as "madness," affirming that temporary peace agreements were "worthless," and that he had never trusted their success. Trump's anger erupted at "Camp David" when he accused Iranian diplomats of "complete lack of honor" in their negotiations, emphasizing that brute force is the only language capable of rearranging the cards.
In contrast, a state of exhaustion and frustration prevails in Iranian diplomatic circles; officials in Tehran believe that American intentions lack trust, and the ongoing threat of war undermines any hope of reviving the peace process. Despite Tehran's continued assertions of the peaceful nature of its nuclear program and its complete denial of any efforts to acquire deadly weapons, the irony lies in the acknowledgment by U.S. administration officials themselves that Iran is not currently enriching uranium, especially after the attacks on the three main enrichment facilities last year.
