UAE – July 23, 2026 – Visa (NYSE: V) has announced the launch of the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform (VTIP), a new cybersecurity solution designed to help financial institutions detect and respond to cyber threats before they lead to fraud or financial losses.

The platform leverages the same advanced cybersecurity capabilities Visa uses to protect its global payments network, enabling banks and financial institutions to identify risks earlier and take proactive action against cyber-enabled fraud.

Fraud is increasingly recognized as the downstream result of cyber incidents such as data breaches, credential theft, and system exploitation, which often occur long before fraudulent transactions take place. Payment credentials can be compromised anywhere across the payments ecosystem, including merchants, issuers, acquirers, processors, and service providers.

Walter Lironi, Senior Vice President and Head of Value-Added Services for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) at Visa, said cyberattacks are becoming more frequent, targeted, and difficult to detect, making proactive threat intelligence essential.

“The Visa Threat Intelligence Platform helps financial institutions identify cyber threats earlier by combining cyber and payments intelligence into a single platform, providing actionable insights that reduce risk before it becomes fraud,” Lironi said.

Built on Visa’s Global Cyber Defense

Visa currently blocks approximately 90 million cyberattacks and 11 million phishing emails every month across more than 200 countries, guided by its mission of achieving zero breaches and zero disruption.

VTIP was developed by Visa’s cybersecurity operations team and extensively tested across Visa’s global payments network before being introduced to clients, ensuring proven effectiveness against real-world threats.

Purpose-Built for Financial Institutions

Designed specifically for the financial services industry, VTIP combines cybersecurity intelligence with payment data, enabling security, fraud, and risk teams to better understand how cyber incidents may evolve into payment fraud.

The platform includes:

* Threat Intelligence to identify malware and indicators of compromise relevant to financial institutions. * Vulnerability Intelligence to detect security weaknesses and active exploits. * Brand Intelligence to identify impersonation attempts and brand abuse. * Digital Identity Intelligence to protect executives and employees from targeted cyberattacks. * Financial Intelligence that identifies compromised payment credentials on the dark web and enriches them with VisaNet insights to support fraud prevention.

By unifying cyber and fraud intelligence, VTIP enables institutions to anticipate threats, prioritize response efforts, and reduce the likelihood of fraud-related losses.

ADIB Becomes First Bank Worldwide to Deploy VTIP

As part of its fraud prevention strategy, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has become the first bank globally to implement the Visa Threat Intelligence Platform. The deployment follows a memorandum of understanding signed between ADIB and Visa last year to strengthen collaboration on cybersecurity initiatives.

Amit Malhotra, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, said the early adoption reflects the bank’s commitment to delivering a secure and trusted banking experience.

“By strengthening our ability to identify risks earlier and respond more effectively, we are enhancing customer protection while supporting a resilient and seamless digital banking journey,” Malhotra said.

Salima Gutieva, Visa’s Vice President and Country Manager for the UAE, said the platform enhances the resilience of financial institutions and helps protect customers from emerging cyber threats.

“ADIB’s early adoption demonstrates the strong collaboration required to advance the UAE’s vision for a secure and inclusive payments ecosystem,” she said.

Strengthening Trust Across Digital Payments

Visa has invested more than $13 billion in technology over the past five years to strengthen network security and reduce fraud. The company’s cybersecurity program also received Gartner Consulting’s highest maturity rating of 4.9 out of 5 among peer organizations.

With the launch of VTIP, Visa aims to provide financial institutions with purpose-built threat intelligence that helps detect cyber threats earlier, reduce downstream fraud, and strengthen trust across the global payments ecosystem.
