في شوارع منطقة «المطلاع» الهادئة بالكويت، لم يكن بائع البقالة البسيط يتخيل أن إصراره على استعادة ثمن مشتريات زهيد لا يتجاوز «دينارين» سيكون هو الفصل الأخير والدموي في حياته، على يد زبون رفض أن يدفع ثمن مشترياته!

فاجعة هزت الشارع الكويتي وانتهت في أروقة المحاكم، بعدما أصدرت الدائرة الثانية بمحكمة الاستئناف الكويتية برئاسة المستشار نصر سالم آل هيد حكماً نهائياً يقضي بحبس المواطن الكويتي المتهم 15 سنة مع الشغل والنفاذ، ليدفع ثمن لحظة طيش وقسوة جردته من إنسانيته.

وكشفت أوراق القضية وشهادة شاهد العيان عن دقائق مرعبة عاشها المجني عليه قبل رحيله. فالقصة بدأت بحديث عادي بين البائع والمتهم يطالبه فيه بدفع قيمة مشترياته، ليتحول المشهد فجأة إلى اعتداء وحشي:

• اللكمات الأولى: وجه المتهم 3 لكمات قاسية ومباشرة لوجه البائع.
• الفخ الحابس: أثناء محاولة البائع التشبث بحقه، رفع المتهم زجاج نافذة السيارة بسرعة، ليحبس يدي الضحية بالكامل ويجعله معلقاً خارج المركبة!

بدلاً من التوقف، ضغط المتهم على دواسة البنزين وانطلق بمركبته دون رحمة، جارّاً جسد البائع الملتصق بالسيارة على طريق الإسفلت الصلب لمسافة 30 متراً كاملة، وسط صراخ ومحاولات استغاثة لم تفلته من القبضة الشيطانية.

وبعد أن قطع هذه المسافة القاتلة، فتح المتهم زجاج النافذة ببرود لتتحرر يد البائع المنهكة، ويسقط على الأرض جثة شبه هامدة يسبح في دمائه، متأثراً بإصابات ونزيف حاد لم يمهله طويلاً ليلفظ أنفاسه الأخيرة قبل وصول المساعدة.

وأيدت محكمة الاستئناف الكويتية حكم محكمة الجنايات بحبس المتهم 15 سنة مع الشغل والنفاذ، مع تعديل وصف الاتهام من «القتل العمد» إلى «الضرب المفضي إلى الموت».

كما رفضت المحكمة الطعن المقدم من النيابة العامة المطالب بتشديد العقوبة لأقصى حد، لتضع كلمة النهاية لقصة مأساوية أثبتت أن استرخاص أرواح البشر من أجل بضعة دنانير لا يجرّ صاحبه إلا خلف أسوار السجن!

In the quiet streets of the "Al-Mutlaa" area in Kuwait, the simple grocery seller could not have imagined that his insistence on recovering the meager cost of purchases not exceeding "two dinars" would be the bloody final chapter of his life, at the hands of a customer who refused to pay for his purchases!

A tragedy that shook the Kuwaiti street and ended in the corridors of the courts, after the second circuit of the Kuwaiti Court of Appeals, headed by Counselor Nasr Salem Al-Heid, issued a final ruling sentencing the Kuwaiti citizen accused to 15 years in prison with hard labor, forcing him to pay the price for a moment of recklessness and cruelty that stripped him of his humanity.

The case documents and the testimony of an eyewitness revealed the terrifying minutes the victim experienced before his departure. The story began with a casual conversation between the seller and the accused, in which he asked him to pay for his purchases, only for the scene to suddenly turn into a brutal assault:

• The first punches: The accused delivered 3 harsh and direct punches to the seller's face.
• The trapping snare: While the seller tried to cling to his rights, the accused quickly raised the car window, completely trapping the victim's hands and leaving him hanging outside the vehicle!

Instead of stopping, the accused pressed the gas pedal and sped off mercilessly, dragging the seller's body, which was stuck to the car, along the hard asphalt road for a full distance of 30 meters, amidst screams and desperate attempts for help that did not free him from the devilish grip.

After covering this deadly distance, the accused coldly opened the car window to free the exhausted seller's hand, causing him to fall to the ground as a nearly lifeless body swimming in his own blood, affected by injuries and severe bleeding that did not give him long before he breathed his last before help arrived.

The Kuwaiti Court of Appeals upheld the Criminal Court's ruling to imprison the accused for 15 years with hard labor, while amending the charge description from "premeditated murder" to "assault leading to death."

The court also rejected the appeal submitted by the Public Prosecution demanding to intensify the punishment to the maximum, putting an end to a tragic story that proved that devaluing human lives for a few dinars only leads its owner behind prison walls!
